Presenter-amusing moment as John Terry pokes fun at Tottenham's trophy drought on talkSPORT, using a witty trophy reference.

Venerable former Chelsea captain John Terry took home top honors at the Maddison Invitational charity golf tournament in Hertfordshire, much to the chagrin of Tottenham Hotspur fans present. Hosted by Spurs midfielder James Maddison, the tournament attracted several sporting stars and celebrities, including Gareth Barry, Lee Hendrie, Tony Bellew, Jimmy Bullard, Nathan Aspinall, Michael McIntyre, and Teddy Sheringham, among others.

In windy weather, Terry emerged victorious, boasting a score of four-under-par to claim the grand prize. Touting his success to Darren Bent and Andy Goldstein on talkSPORT Drive, the 44-year-old jokingly said, "I've had a very good day today. I was four-under today, I've won the trophy, and I've got up to a bit of heckling and a few boos. But it's been a week and I've won the same amount of trophies as Spurs."

His remark was a subtle jibe at Tottenham, who ended a 17-year trophy drought last Wednesday in the Europa League final. Despite finishing first, Terry and Maddison's playful banter on social media following the event indicated a camaraderie between the two, a contrast from a more intense rivalry observed in their respective professional football careers.

Referencing their interaction, Maddison, who had sustained a season-ending injury for the competition, teased Terry on Instagram. Dressed in full kit despite taking part in the final, Maddison wrote, "To kit. Full @johnterry.26 mode. Anything to say tonight John?"

In response, Terry capitalized on the moment, drawing attention to his handsome collection of trophies and commemorative items. "I remember my first trophy, ah bless them," Terry wrote. "Get the tequila out. Great season from you boys, you should all be proud! 16 (trophies) to go... After that performance I think you have a chance. You just have to live for 900 years."

As part of his response, the 44-year-old also showcased his home office filled with trophies, England caps, and champagne from years of celebrated seasons.

Terry and Maddison's friendly bickering serves as a reminder that the world of football extends beyond the pitch, fostering camaraderie and banter among both players and fans alike.

Chelsea will seek to equal Tottenham's trophy count this season as they take on Real Betis in the Conference League final on Wednesday, live on talkSPORT. While Terry concedes that the Conference League may not be their first choice tournament, he believes the squad is more than capable of holding their own.

"And I think they've given themselves a really good chance to go and do that," Terry said. "I think securing Champions League football next year via the league is great. But when you're in these big finals, you want to go and perform on the big stage... We're probably young and inexperienced, which is a plus for the football club... In these big games, that can also go against you a little bit. That's the only thing that goes against us, if I'm honest... But I think they'll rise to the challenge."
