EdDavao taps 3,690 educators as 2025 Elections electoral board
EdDavao, the Davao City Division of the Department of Education, has wrangled 3,690 teachers to join the electoral board for the upcoming 2025 National and Local Elections (NLE). Among them, 1,060 educators have already taken part in absentee voting.
In an interview, Reynante Solitario, DepEd-Davao City Superintendent, expressed enthusiasm for these 3,690 teachers serving the city and confirmed their roles were already assigned for the urban sector, while 1,060 would handle positions obtained through absentee voting.
Regarding the teachers, Solitario stated that many classrooms previously designated for regular use have been prepared with special equipment. Additionally, multipurpose halls will be utilized for setting up ballot boxes and other election paraphernalia.

Solitario emphasized the tireless preparations ongoing at Daniel R. Aguinaldo National High School, where Vice President Sara Duterte is expected to vote. Security and safety measures at the venue have been bolstered by the Philippine National Police (PNP) and Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP).
While the scene set by President Rodrigo Duterte during his own voting incident in prior elections would not be emulated, Solitario noted that it would be preserved.

Solitario warned potential electoral board members against receiving bribes. The division office has set up a task force specifically to deal with any potential bribery incidents, as well as to coordinate with the DepEd regional office. Lawyers would also be on standby to provide legal aid to the electoral board members should it be required.
The task force is in place to address any bribery allegations, as several teachers have expressed concern about the high honorarium offered to electoral board members. In accordance with Comelec Resolution No. 11076, Section 13, the honorarium has increased by a significant amount (approximately P2,000) and includes a daily service credit[1].

"We are seeing a great number of interested applicants, but we cannot accommodate everyone," Solitario explained in an interview on May 2, 2025, at the DCPO grounds. (Rojean Grace G. Patumbon)
