Preparing for the final races, cyclist Remco Evenepoel gears up with Soudal-QuickStep at Livigno's high-altitude training camp, seeking fresh opportunities.

Remco Evenepoel, the Belgian cycling sensation, has confirmed his move to Red Bull-Bora-Hansgrohe for the 2026 season. The announcement, made on Tuesday, has sparked one of the biggest transfer stories of the summer.

Evenepoel is expected to finish his current season with Soudal Quick-Step and achieve more great things, before joining his new team next year.

Remco Evenepoel's Final Races in 2025

Evenepoel's upcoming races for the remainder of 2025 are set to be exciting. He will participate in the Tour of Britain, starting in Woodbridge and finishing in Cardiff from September 2 to 7. This will be one of his final races with Soudal Quick-Step. Following the Tour of Britain, Evenepoel will compete in the UCI Road World Championships in Rwanda, held from September 21 to 28. He aims to defend his men's time trial title and potentially reclaim the road race title.

A New Era with Red Bull-Bora-Hansgrohe

Starting in 2026, Evenepoel will ride for Red Bull-Bora-Hansgrohe. This move is seen as an opportunity for him to compete more effectively in major tours like the Tour de France, aligning himself with a team that has proven credentials and ambitions. Evenepoel's transfer involves a four-year commitment, positioning him for future success in the peloton, particularly in the post-Tadej Pogačar era.

Evenepoel's primary focus in the coming years will likely be on the Grand Tours, where Red Bull-Bora-Hansgrohe's strong lineup, including Primož Roglič and Jai Hindley, will support his ambitions.

Evenepoel's mother confirmed that everything is back to normal for him now, and he is expected to return to racing at the Tour of Britain in early September.

A Look Back at Evenepoel's Journey

Evenepoel's journey in cycling has been nothing short of remarkable. He won the stage 5 time trial around Caen during the Tour de France, but had to abandon the race last Monday due to sinusitis. Evenepoel was third overall in the general classification for the first half of the Tour de France before climbing off during stage 14 to Superbagnères due to fatigue.

Evenepoel admitted "It's time for something new" in a video call, expressing gratitude towards Patrick Lefevere for his early success. Despite his struggles during the Tour de France, Evenepoel started altitude training in Livigno to prepare for his final race in Soudal's blue and white colors, which is likely to be Il Lombardia on October 11.

Evenepoel was unable to attend his R.EV Ride mass-participation event near his home in Schepdaal due to altitude training.
