Prepared for the Javelin final at the World Athletics Championships 2025: Arshad Nadeem
The World Athletics Championships 2025 in Tokyo, Japan, is heating up as the Men's Javelin Throw final approaches. Scheduled for Thursday, the final round will see 12 athletes, including world No 1 Julian Weber from Germany and India's Neeraj Chopra, battle it out for the gold medal.
Neeraj Chopra qualified automatically for the final round, thanks to a first-attempt throw of 84.85m in Group A, surpassing the automatic qualification mark of 84.50m. His rival, Arshad Nadeem from Pakistan, will join him in the final after a throw of 85.28m in his third attempt, securing his spot as the reigning Olympic champion.
Arshad Nadeem, who triumphed at the 2024 Paris Olympics with gold and set a new Olympic record with a throw of 92.97m, will take his first watch third in the order. Neeraj Chopra, who made history by becoming India's first world champion in athletics at the last World Championships in Budapest in 2023 with a throw of 88.17m, will take his first watch immediately after Arshad Nadeem.
Other notable athletes in the final round include Curtis Thompson of the USA, who qualified with a later throw of 84.72m, and Julius Yego from Kenya, who advanced with a throw of 89.53m. Anderson Peters from Grenada, who qualified with a throw of 85.96m, and India's Sachin Yadav, who narrowly missed direct qualification but later qualified based on the results of Group B, will also be competing.
Each athlete in the final round will get six throws to compete for the gold medal. The final round will start at 3:23PM (PST) on Thursday. The Men's Javelin Throw final promises to be an exciting spectacle, with Neeraj Chopra and Arshad Nadeem set to light up the Tokyo stadium.
