Prepared for another clash in Abuja, Wike announces, expresses eagerness for confrontation

In a significant development, Minister Nyesom Wike, who also serves as the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), has expressed his readiness to face potential conflicts with contractors as he embarks on project flag-offs and commissionings in Abuja.

During the flagging off of the construction of Arterial Road N1 From Wuye District to Ring Road II, Abuja, Minister Wike warned contractors against complacency while carrying out projects in the FCT. He emphasised that they should stay away if they are not interested in working under his new payment strategy.

The Minister also indicated that there are contractors whose duty is to supply generators, and he anticipates conflicts with them due to this new payment strategy. He mentioned that there will be a fight regarding the payment strategy for maintenance of street lights and back roads. However, he did not provide any new information about the specifics of this new strategy.

Minister Wike also addressed potential conflicts with individuals who believe they have a traditional right to handle certain projects, both within and outside the FCT. He stated that such individuals should stay away if they are not prepared for the job.

In a related development, Minister Wike announced the completion of the road project within two years after starting the work on the A1 from Wuye District to Ring Road II in Abuja. He did not provide any new information about the flagging off of the construction of this road.

Interestingly, Minister Wike did not express any new information pertaining to potential conflicts with contractors regarding the payment strategy for maintenance of street lights and back roads. Nor did he express any new information about potential conflicts with contractors whose duty is to supply generators.

Politicians who traditionally handle street light installation may oppose Minister Wike's initiatives, according to some reports. Certain individuals outside the FCT also believe they have a traditional right to supply generators and may cause conflicts.

Despite these potential conflicts, Minister Wike is determined to support President Bola Tinubu in achieving his plans for Nigeria. He did not elaborate on how these potential conflicts might impact his support for the President.

In conclusion, Minister Wike's initiatives in Abuja are set to bring significant changes, and potential conflicts with contractors and traditional right holders are a part of this landscape. As the projects progress, more information about these conflicts and their resolution is expected to emerge.
