GB Rowing Team Ready for World Rowing Championships in Shanghai

The GB Rowing Team has arrived in Shanghai, China, ready to compete in the World Rowing Championships from 21-28 September. The team is expected to race in various events, including the PR3 doubles, Women's single, and the PR3 mixed double sculls.

The reserve races were completed on Saturday, providing valuable practice for the squad. Andrew Randell, Women's Olympic Head Coach, considers these races important for the team's preparation. The PR3 doubles, a relatively new event with a large entry, is one of the events the team will be competing in. Paul Stannard, Men's Olympic Head Coach, is also looking forward to the competition, considering the course to be well-laid-out and the water to be good.

Nicola Benavente, Paralympic Head Coach, shares a similar sentiment, expressing satisfaction with the planning and setup in China. She believes that if conditions are right, there is potential for records to be broken in the races. The team has been acclimatized to the warm conditions in China due to preparations back home, and training has been challenging due to high temperatures, but the team was prepared for the heat.

The athletes and support staff have settled in to life in China, and the mood of the team is great. They are eager to race, and Paul Stannard expects the World Rowing Championships to be a very good competition. Nicola Benavente considers the hotel and course in China to be good.

Racing for the World Rowing Championships will be live-streamed on WorldRowing.com, allowing fans to follow the team's progress. Some nations only arrived a couple of days before racing, while the GB team arrived around ten days before, ensuring they have had ample time to adjust to the conditions.

The athletes competing in the PR3 mixed double sculls at the Paralympics include Lisa Greissl and Sam Stunell for Australia, Kathrin Marchand and Valentin Luz for Germany, Samuel Murray and Annabel Caddick for Great Britain, and Dariia Kotyk and Stanislav Samoliuk for Ukraine.

The races officially start in the early hours of Sunday morning. Follow the GB Rowing Team's updates from China on their Instagram account. The team is looking forward to a successful World Rowing Championships and hopes to bring home some medals.
