Prepare yourself! Eleven communities, including Kemptville, experience Hydro One power disruptions on May 25.
Hydro One Customers: Power Outage Alert
Mark your calendars, folks! There's a power outage coming up this Sunday, May 25, affecting approximately 6,053 Hydro One customers. Here's what you need to know.
The power cut, scheduled from 7 a.m. until noon, is going to hit the areas of Cambridge, Kars, Kemptville, Manotick, Marlborough, Metcalfe, Mountain, North Gower, Osgoode, Richmond, and South Gower.
Why the sudden power cut, you ask? Hydro One is installing new equipment, they say.
Those who'll be affected have already been notified by the utility. Sorry for any inconvenience caused. Originally, the work was planned for May 4, but it's been rescheduled.
Remember, electrical safety is paramount. Keep your distance from any downed power lines or equipment—never assume they are safe to approach. If you spot them, give Hydro One a call right away.
During power outages, traffic lights may be out. Treat affected intersections as all-way stops and drive with extra caution.
When the power shuts off, turn off all your appliances, charge your cellphones and devices, and make sure your electrically powered medical equipment is ready to go. If you rely on such equipment, plan accordingly.
If you've got a fridge stuffed with goodies, keep those doors closed to prevent spoilage. Also, remember to keep your blinds shut when it's colder or hotter outside than inside.
Generators should be kept outside and away from any windows or vents.
