The 100-day countdown ceremony for the 15th National Games is set to take place in Hong Kong, marking a significant milestone in the build-up to the event. This ceremony is not just a symbolic event but also a community-engagement initiative that involves the participation of ordinary Hongkongers.

The highlight of the ceremony is the completion of the "Million Kilometers Challenge." Through collective efforts, Hongkongers have biked, run, and walked their way to 999,900km this month. The final 100km will be completed during the ceremony itself, with a group cycling activity involving athletes, officials, and citizens. This public engagement fosters community spirit and promotes fitness in the lead-up to the Games.

The ceremony also underscores the collaborative hosting relationship among Hong Kong, Macau, and Guangdong, the three regions jointly hosting the Games for the first time. Hong Kong’s Chief Executive, John Lee Ka-chiu, will lead the ceremony, with celebrations coordinated across the three areas, including events in Shenzhen on the mainland and a fitness carnival in Hong Kong.

The fitness carnival at Go Park Sai Sha, being hosted by the Hong Kong Guangdong Youth Federation, aims to deepen the coordinated development of sports within the Greater Bay Area. It will be attended by Rosanna Law Shuk-pui, a sports and tourism minister, and Yeung Tak-keung, the head of the National Games Coordination Office in Hong Kong. Athletes and other dignitaries will also join Law and Yeung at the carnival.

The 100-day countdown ceremony, taking place at the Velodrome in Hong Kong, serves as a "bridge" for cooperation and integrated development in sports within the Greater Bay Area. The events leading up to the National Games are not just about competition but also about fostering unity and community spirit, making it an exciting time for all involved.
