Remco Evenepoel Officially Joins Red Bull-Bora-Hansgrohe for 2026 Season

Remco Evenepoel's transfer to Red Bull-Bora-Hansgrohe for the 2026 season has been officially confirmed, marking a significant move for the World and Olympic champion [1][3]. This transition will see Evenepoel bring several key staff and riders with him, including former Belgian national coach Sven Vanthourenout and teammates like Gianni Moscon and Mattia Cattaneo, creating a strong "Team Remco" environment within the squad [2].

Evenepoel will continue riding Specialized bikes, the only brand he has ever used, which should ease his adaptation to the new team technically, especially for crucial time trials that will be decisive in Grand Tours [3]. He is expected to undergo renewed testing for position, components, and aerodynamics to provide Red Bull with full data, but overall the change in equipment will be smooth.

After his recent Tour de France withdrawal and his transfer announcement, Evenepoel started altitude training in Livigno as part of his build-up for a planned return to racing at the Tour of Britain in early September 2025 [5]. Following the Tour of Britain, he aims to compete in the World Championships in Rwanda and the European Championships in France. His last race wearing Soudal-QuickStep colors is expected to be Il Lombardia on October 11, 2025 [5].

Evenepoel's mother confirmed that he is now healthy again after a bout of sinusitis following the Tour de France [6]. Unfortunately, this illness forced him to miss his R.EV Ride mass-participation event near his home in Schepdaal due to altitude training [7].

Primož Roglič, leader at Red Bull-Bora-hansgrohe, publicly expressed optimism about Evenepoel’s arrival, signaling strong team support for his move and ambitions [4]. Evenepoel’s choice to pay out his contract early with Soudal-QuickStep to join Red Bull reflects his determination to accelerate his Grand Tour success with his new team [5].

Cyclingnews will cover all cycling transfers from the 2026 season [8]. Evenepoel is expected to return to racing at the Tour of Britain in early September, ready to continue his pursuit of Grand Tour success.
