The Lone Parade in Kuban Goes Live, All Eyes on Novorossiysk
Preparations of Kuban 24 for Broadcasting Novorossiysk's Victory Day Parade
Get ready to witness Kuban's sole parade of the year, happening on uncharted territory—the streets of Novorossiysk, without spectators. Let "Kuban 24" be your eyes as they bring the spectacle to you live.
Two months of meticulous planning has gone into turning the Hero City into a live broadcasting studio.
"Ensuring all our equipment is in top shape, ticking off lists, accreditation, rounding up operators, and recalling the finer details of our studio operations are key parts of the prep," explains Yevgeny Bezrukov, the chief operator of "Kuban 24".
A crucial component of their equipment checklist is the video sender, the workhorse that enables wireless transmission of video over long distances.
"Our pride lies in our lens—it’s the only one of its kind in the region, delivering high-definition footage with an impressive focal length," boasts Bezrukov.
The team at "Kuban 24" has covered the Victory Parade in the past, guaranteeing their expertise to deliver a top-tier broadcast. Nine studio operators and three live broadcast operators will make their way from Krasnodar to Novorossiysk on May 8, armed with a supporting team of engineers.
Ruslan Veliev, the engineer of the Kuban 24 channel, shares that their focus is on connecting sources that will relay live feeds from various regions.
The nerve center of the operation is their control room, where the video signal from cameras makes its way into the hands of engineers, either for recording or immediate live broadcast.
"With live broadcast, we'll be together more closely than ever, bringing the victory celebrations of the entire Krasnodar Krai to viewers," notes the producer, Anna Dezhina.
Equally integral to the operation are Andrei Melnikov, the sound engineer, and Alexei Sopov, the director, who'll ensure crystal clear audio and six hours of in-depth coverage.
This year marks Sergey Kozhanov's 30th commentary for the Victory Parade, a date he considers significant after his initial nervous beginnings. The commentators from Novorossiysk, Alexei Vlasov, Natalia Klescheva, and Roman Mokropulo, share his anticipation.
The city's streets, bustling with traffic and footfall at the moment, will transform come May 9. At 10:00 sharp, military equipment and formations will march along Sovetskaya Street, from Kutuzovsky Ring to Svoboda Street, with "Kuban 24"'s cameras capturing the event from multiple perspectives.
Loading up on the prime viewing spot will be nine cameras, positioned opposite the administration building of Novorossiysk, with Lenin keeping watch nearby. Along the entire main street, radio signals and action cameras will be installed, leaving just a few final touches to complete the setup.
"We're working hard to make these six hours of live broadcast an unmissable event, offering viewers a front-row seat to the celebrations of Victory Day," adds Veliev.
