Krasnoyarsk Gearing Up for the 80th Victory Day Celebration
Preparations kick off in Krasnoyarsk for the 80th anniversary of Victory
Get ready for a grand spectacle in Krasnoyarsk as the city prepares to mark the 80th anniversary of victory in the Great Patriotic War. City officials are brainstorming plans for festive events and street decorations.
Mayor Vladislav Loginov has signed an order to kick-start the preparations and heads the organizing committee. By April 11th, city officials aim to develop a concept and plan for the city's festive makeover, with spots such as Pr. im. Gazetas Kronsyarskogo Rabotchego, the “Krasnoyarsk – City of Labor Valor” Stele area, the Museum of Victory, Theatre Square, Prospekt Mir, and the Park near DK 1 May in the lineup.
The area around the Stele at Kronsnab, where the Victory Parade will once again take place, will be decorated and equipped with 450-seat tribunes complete with a canopy for veterans mere days before May 9th.
Moreover, according to the document, veterans will receive scarves during the celebration near the "Victory Memorial" and at Kronsnab. Additionally, at least 12 bio-toilets will be installed near the Stele "Krasnoyarsk – City of Labor Valor," and some transportation stops and traffic signals may temporarily be removed for general rehearsals and the parade itself. The festivities will be broadcast live on at least two LED screens.
By April 21st, plans for the actual events were meant to be ready, though specifics remain scarce as of now. It's known, however, that public transport announcements will tout the feats of WWII heroes, and buses will get a festive makeover. There are also plans to create films about the Victory Memorial and WWII victory.
The Immortal Regiment march (details TBA), a traditional athletic relay, the Giir Победы event, and a massive concert on Theatre Square are sure to take place on May 9th. Street food stalls will be set up for the festivities.
During March through July, a series of films under the project “In the Names of Heroes” is proposed, showcasing local Soviet Union heroes whose schools and streets bear their names. Throughout the year, authorities plan to carry out restoration and maintenance works on memorials, statues, and monuments commemorating the fallen heroes of Krasnoyarsk.
Stay tuned for more updates about this momentous occasion!
