The cricket world is buzzing with excitement as the DP World ILT20 Development Tournament is set to begin at the Sulaibiya Cricket Ground in Kuwait next month. This tournament, scheduled for September 2025, will serve as a launchpad for local talent and a strategic pathway for them to potentially secure a place in the globally renowned DP World ILT20 tournament in Dubai in December 2025.
The tournament will feature four competitive teams: Boubyan Warriors, Failaika Guardians, Pearl Strikers, and Kuwait Falcons. A total of 60 players will participate, including 19 contracted national team players, 10 junior emerging stars, and a strong pool of domestic players selected by the Kuwait Cricket High Performance Committee.
The official draft for selecting the 15-member squad for each team will take place on the 8th of August at the Sulaibiya Cricket Ground. The head coaches, captains, and managers for each team will be announced on the 7th of August.
The 14 high-intensity matches will be played throughout the tournament, providing an opportunity for local players to showcase their skills on a global platform of franchise league cricket. This cooperation follows a partnership agreement between DP World ILT20 and the Kuwait Cricket Board aimed at developing cricket in Kuwait and the Gulf region.
