Preparations in full swing for this weekend's Riga Marathon
The much-anticipated 2025 Rimi Riga Marathon is set to take place in Riga, Latvia on Saturday, May 17, 2025, from 9:00 AM to Sunday, May 18, 2025, at 5:00 PM (EEST).
This annual event, which has been held in Riga since 1991, will feature the marathon, half-marathon, 10 km, and 5.8 km races, attracting tens of thousands of runners from all over the world. The marathon and mile distances also have the status of Latvian championships.
The "Rimi" Riga Marathon has been awarded the quality mark of the World Athletics organization, ensuring a high standard of organisation and safety for all participants.
A cultural atmosphere is expected to accompany the athletic event, according to event organiser Nords. Hundreds of choristers and singers will participate to cheer on the runners and create a festive atmosphere.
For the convenience of participants, each runner will be able to ride for free on the capital's public transport with their start number. However, detailed traffic information, including road closures and traffic diversions, is not yet available.
