Preparations for the most extensive British Motor Yacht Show unfold

The 10th instalment of the British Motor Yacht Show is set to be its grandest yet, returning to its traditional mid-May slot this year from May 11-14. After a momentary shift to June in 2022 to allow for completion of building works at the Swanwick Marina venue, the show is back on track for growth following pandemic-induced disruptions.

This year's event is anticipated to showcase a burgeoning crop of new boats, with leading home-grown brands spearheading the charge alongside their south coast dealers. Princess Motor Yacht Sales is featuring no fewer than seven boats, including the Princess S72, Princess F55, Princess F50, Princess V50 DS, Princess V40, and Princess X80.

Sunseeker Southampton plans to display a Sunseeker Manhattan 68 and four additional models, while Fairline Southampton will present four models, including the much-anticipated Fairline Squadron 68. Pearl Yachts will bring a Pearl 62, Seaward is to exhibit a 42, and debuts are expected from Arksen, Optima, and others.

Moreover, many international brands will be represented by their UK dealers, such as Beneteau, Jeanneau, Prestige, Wellcraft, Bavaria, Galeon, Greenline, Windy, Sealine, Fjord, Aquila, Bluegame, Sea Ray, and Regal.

In a supplementary article, yachting correspondent Hugo shares his perspective on the British Motor Yacht Show. If you are in the market for a new boat, the British Motor Yacht Show is one of the most rewarding events in the marine calendar, he notes. Held at Premier's Swanwick Marina in Southampton over four days in early May, it brings together some of the foremost boat building names and some of the industry's most knowledgeable professionals.

The vast majority of new boats are exhibited on the pontoons, with ample time to speak to sales staff and compare boats on your shortlist. Highlights from this year's event include big-ticket exhibits from Fairline, Princess, Sunseeker, Pearl, and Seaward, as well as models from esteemed overseas builders such as Nordic high flyers, Axopar, Saxdor, Windy, and Nordstar.

Other brands like Galeon, Prestige, Sealine, and Azimut will also be there, along with Bavaria's new SR33, the intoxicating Wellcraft 355, and Fjord's impeccable 38 Open. Visitors can also check out lesser-known brands like Hinckley, Hylas, Reborn, and Protector.

Attendees can easily find the event at Premier's Swanwick Marina, with plentiful parking and free entry. However, those wishing to step aboard and explore a particular boat are encouraged to register their interest in advance on the BMYS website.
