Inter Milan Secures New Midfielder Amid Coaching Turmoil
Preparations for the Club World Cup commence as Inter taps Croatia midfielder Petar Sucic
Hop on board, folks, as we delve into the intriguing world of Inter Milan! They've splashed the cash, bagging the promising Croatian midfielder Petar Sucic from Dinamo Zagreb in a deal worth €14 million, with a bonus of €2.5 million in potential add-ons.
No stranger to soccer fields, the 21-year-old Sucic has already littered his resume with seven senior caps for Croatia. His 2024-2025 season was a breakout one, scoring five goals and setting up two assists in 26 league appearances. Quite the church mouse turned lion, eh? Unfortunately, this dazzling display of skill couldn't quite save Dinamo from missing out on their 26th Croatian title, as they finished second to Rijeka on a head-to-head tiebreaker.
Sucic is set to join the Nerazzurri ahead of their opening match at the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup, where they'll face Monterrey of Mexico on June 17 at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, California.
Now, here's where things get interesting – Inter's coaching chair is currently empty, following the departure of Simone Inzaghi. The Italian tactician, who left by mutual consent after Inter's 5-0 defeat to Paris Saint-Germain in the UEFA Champions League final, is reportedly heading for Saudi Arabian giants Al-Hilal.
One of the leading names linked with the Inter job is Cesc Fabregas, the former Chelsea, Arsenal, and Barcelona star. Despite interest from Inter, Como remain confident of keeping Fabregas, who's also a minority shareholder in the club.
After their opening match, Inter will trek across the pond to face Urawa Red Diamonds on June 21, before wrapping up their Group E campaign against River Plate on June 25. Stay tuned for more updates on the coaching front!
