Preparation for additional rainy periods in Taiwan
In the warmer months of the year, the Northwest Pacific and South China Seas see a significant increase in typhoon activity. On average, approximately 25 to 27 typhoons form annually in these regions, with July to October being the peak months for their formation.
During these peak months, about four typhoons typically form each month. Most typhoons, in fact, form between July and October. Historically, the year with the most typhoons was 1964, with 37 recorded, while the fewest was in 2010 with only 14.
As of current events, Tropical Depression No. 22 has formed and is making its way across the Pacific. However, it is not expected to significantly affect Taiwan. Instead, the system is predicted to move toward southeastern Japan. As of 2pm yesterday, Tropical Depression No. 22 was moving westward at 29kph.
It's important to note that these statistics reflect the average rate over a long period and not the number of typhoons formed every year. Additionally, there are no relevant records specifying the predominant typhoon that appeared most frequently between July and October in recent years.
Stay tuned for updates on Tropical Depression No. 22 and other weather developments in the Northwest Pacific and South China Seas.
