Title: West Bromwich Albion Outshines Chelsea in Thrilling Comeback
West Bromwich Albion pulled off a stunning comeback against ten-man Chelsea, scoring five goals in a thrilling Premier League match. Despite Chelsea starting the game in fourth place, two points above West Ham, and taking the lead through Christian Pulisic's goal, they were reduced to ten men after Thiago Silva received a red card. The visitors took full advantage, with Matheus Pereira and Mbaye Diagne scoring two each in the first half, and Callum Robinson netting a magnificent volley in the second half to secure their impressive victory.
Liverpool continued their winning streak with a 3:0 victory over Arsenal, while Manchester City's Premiership dominance remained intact with a 2:0 win over Leicester City. City's leaders, Benjamin Mendy and Gabriel Jesus, scored in the second half to extend their lead at the top of the table.
The comeback win put a temporary halt to Chelsea's impressive unbeaten run under manager Thomas Tuchel, which had lasted 14 games since he replaced Frank Lampard. Tuchel admitted that the sending-off of Thiago Silva was the turning point in the game, and Chelsea struggled to cope after that.
Despite the loss, Chelsea remain in a comfortable fourth position, with eight remaining games against Liverpool. Touche lamented the team's failure to convert their chances, stating, "Every shot they took was a goal. Today wasn't our day. We will get the right answer. First, we need to digest this and then we need to take our responsibility – including me."
Matheus Pereira opened the scoring for West Brom with a well-placed shot that gave Chelsea goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga no chance. West Brom continued to push forward, and Costa Pereira doubled their lead just before halftime with a powerful header.
Callum Robinson came off the bench in the second half and delivered a stunning volley to put West Brom in a commanding position. Mbaye Diagne then got in on the act with a clever finish to make it 4-1. Mason Mount pulled one back for Chelsea with a deflected effort, but Robinson secured the win with a smart finish in the dying seconds.
West Brom have struggled in the Premier League this season, but their victory over Chelsea has given them a much-needed boost in their survival bid. Sam Allardyce, the West Brom manager, praised his team's performance, saying, "We were really pleased and happy with how our players implemented our tactics and how we controlled Chelsea's attack. We had fantastic ball control and shot quality."
Although the victory was a significant boost for West Brom, they still sit seven points behind the Premier League's relegation zone. But for now, they can enjoy the feel-good factor of a stunning comeback win against one of the league's top teams.
