Manchester United Secure Signing of Benjamin Sesko in €85 Million Deal

Manchester United have completed the signing of Slovenian striker Benjamin Sesko from Bundesliga club RB Leipzig in a deal reportedly worth up to €85 million. The transfer, confirmed in early August 2025, marks a significant investment for the English record champions as they rebuild their attack following a goal-sparse prior season.

Sesko, 22, has put pen to paper on a five-year contract until June 2030. The total cost of the deal is approximately €85 million, which includes an initial fee of about €76.5 million, plus around €8.5 million in performance-related add-ons.

The transfer was reported by ntv.de, with both clubs confirming the deal. Leipzig, a Bundesliga club, will receive a sell-on clause, entitling them to a percentage of any future transfer fee. Additionally, a friendly match between the clubs will be arranged as part of the deal.

Manchester United managed to secure Sesko despite interest and higher bids from Newcastle United, who offered more upfront but were outmaneuvered due to Sesko’s clear preference to join United. Key club officials including director of football Jason Wilcox, recruitment director Christopher Vivell, and chief negotiator Matt Hargreaves finalized the terms in Leipzig.

Sesko scored 21 goals in 45 appearances for Leipzig in the previous season, making him one of the most prolific young players in Europe’s top five leagues. He expressed excitement about Manchester United’s project and environment, aiming to compete for major trophies under manager Ruben Amorim.

Key Transfer Terms - Contract length: 5 years (until June 2030) - Total fee: around €85 million / £74 million (includes €76.5m initial + €8.5m add-ons) - Additional terms: sell-on clause, friendly match scheduled - Preferred move over Newcastle United despite their higher offer

With Sesko's arrival, Manchester United fans are hopeful that the new signing will boost their team's attacking prowess and help them challenge for major trophies in the coming seasons.

The community policy of Manchester United, as well as their employment policy, will likely need to accommodate the Slovenian striker Benjamin Sesko, who has recently joined them following a €85 million deal. Being a promising talent in European leagues, specifically the premier-league, Sesko's signing could potentially have a significant impact on Manchester United's sports and football strategies in the upcoming seasons.
