Preliminary Outcome of 2025 Local Elections
Menden, Germany, is gearing up for a significant election day on September 28, 2025. This day will see the culmination of the Integration Council election and a runoff election for the position of Mayor.
The candidates for the Integration Council election vary by city. In Bergisch Gladbach, Frank Samirae and Thomas Klein from the "Bürgerpartei GL" and their alliance candidates are running. Meanwhile, in cities like Minden and Cologne, candidates must submit nominations supported by voters and meet legal requirements. Citizens can find the specific candidate lists presented by local parties and groups in their respective cities.
The runoff election candidates for the position of Mayor are Manuela Schmidt (CDU) and Jens Wilkens (SPD).
For those who prefer mail-in voting, applications and in-person voting at the mail-in voting office are possible until Friday, September 26, 2025, until 3 pm. The mail-in voting office at the New Town Hall (1st floor, Neumarkt 5) will be open from September 18, 2025. Citizens who have already voted by mail for the municipal election on September 14, 2025, will automatically receive their voting materials. For new applicants, you can apply in person at the town hall, online, or by email at wahlen@unsere website. The online application for mail-in voting for the runoff election is possible until Tuesday, September 23, 2025.
It is essential to bring a valid photo ID and your voting notification to the mail-in voting office. If you no longer have your voting notification, you can also vote with your personal ID or passport at your polling station. The red voting envelope (for mail-in voting) must be received by the election office no later than Sunday, September 28, 2025, at 4 pm.
The polling stations will be open from 8 am to 6 pm on September 28, 2025. The preliminary final results for the Landrat Election, County Council Election, Mayoral Election, Council Election, and Integration Council Election for Menden are now available. Please note that Menden has already held its election last Sunday. The voting notifications from September 14, 2025, will also be valid for the runoff. The mail-in voting office hours are Monday to Wednesday from 8 am to 4 pm, Thursday from 8 am to 5:30 pm, and Friday from 8 am to 3 pm.
