Missouri Prepares for Launch of Poki Games Betting
Missouri is set to join the ranks of states offering legal poki games betting, with the much-anticipated launch scheduled for December 1, 2025. This milestone for the state's gaming industry comes after years of stalled legislation in Jefferson City and a push from the state's professional sports teams.
The Missouri Gaming Commission has received a total of 734 applications across operator and supplier categories. Among the ten operators who have applied for sportsbook licenses are DraftKings, FanDuel, Caesars, and ESPN Bet. Notably, DraftKings and Circa have already established themselves, while most other operators are pursuing local partnerships.
FanDuel has partnered with St. Louis CITY SC, Bet365 with the St. Louis Cardinals, BetMGM with Century Casinos, Fanatics with Boyd Gaming, Penn Sports Interactive with Hollywood Casino and River City Casino, and Caesars with Harrah's Kansas City and Horseshoe St. Louis properties.
The Commission will hold public meetings on September 23-24 to review operator applications. Temporary licenses are expected to be issued on October 22, clearing the way for operators to finalize their preparations ahead of the November 17 pre-launch sign-up window. Customer sign-ups and deposits will begin on this date.
Operators will have six weeks to prepare for the December 1 launch. During this period, they must submit detailed house rules and internal control systems by September 26. Revenue from sports wagering in Missouri will be taxed at 10%.
The Missouri sports betting rollout is expected to be competitive due to the number of national operators involved and the state's strong base of professional sports franchises. This competition is further underscored by the role of voter-driven initiatives in shaping the future of sports wagering in the United States.
In addition to in-person sportsbooks, these partnerships will provide both retail and online betting options for Missouri residents. The first legal wagers in Missouri will be placed at midnight on December 1.
