Predicting Iowa High School Football Class 3A Districts in 2025: Selection of Regions for Competition

The highly anticipated 2025 Iowa high school football season is set to kick off, with Class 3A featuring 36 teams in a thrilling battle for the state championship.

The season will consist of nine regular games, leading to an exciting playoff series. The playoffs will be contested over four rounds, with the top two teams from each of six districts securing a spot, along with four at-large teams based on RPI. A total of 16 teams will advance to the nba playoffs.

In District 4, Solon (8-3), Fairfield (2-7), Washington (6-3), Keokuk, Mount Pleasant, and Fort Madison will be vying for a playoff spot. Washington and Mount Pleasant, along with District 4 powerhouse Mount Vernon, are expected to make a strong showing. Mount Vernon, returning a significant amount of their firepower, led by quarterback Kellen Haverback, receiving duo Jase Jaspers, and Michael Ryan, and leading tackler Jaxon Anderson, is projected to qualify for the nba playoffs.

Fairfield is predicted to be the best of the five Southeast Conference teams in District 4. The season will see a pivotal Week 6 encounter between Fairfield and Washington that could shape the district's playoff race.

Moving on to District 2, teams from Wamac and North Central Conference will compete. Clear Lake (6-4) is the team to beat, followed by Independence (8-3), Benton Community (7-3), West Delaware (5-4), Charles City, and Iowa Falls-Alden. The Spartans' top three tacklers from 2024 (Kyler Jensen, Maddox Kelley, and Tripp Johnson) return, promising a strong season for the team.

District 3 features Mount Vernon (10-2) as a potential contender for the 3A state championship. Dubuque Wahlert (13-0 champions), Davenport Assumption (4-6), and Center Point-Urbana (4-5) also compete in this district. Despite losing a majority of their roster to graduation, Dubuque Wahlert could challenge for the second automatic bid in District 3.

District 5 includes Nevada, Williamsburg, Des Moines Christian, Winterset, Knoxville, and Saydel. The specific wildcard playoff teams for 2025 are not yet known, as they are selected at-large based on RPI after the top two teams from each of six districts advance.

The 2025 Iowa high school football season is shaping up to be an exciting one, with Class 3A teams gearing up for a fierce battle on the gridiron. Stay tuned for updates and coverage throughout the season.
