Predicted Delhi Weather: Anticipated Light Showers Amidst Warming Clima

News Article: Delhi Weather Update and Air Quality Improvement

Delhi, India, is set to experience a change in weather this week, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD). The city will see a brief respite from the hot and dry weather today, with partly cloudy skies and a 44% chance of passing showers.

Thursday, September 18, will bring temperatures ranging between 31°C and 35°C, offering a temporary relief from the heat. This rainfall marks the end of a 9-day dry spell that Delhi has experienced since September 8, due to the monsoon withdrawal.

The southwest monsoon has begun its withdrawal from parts of Rajasthan, Gujarat, Punjab, and Haryana, leading to the dry spell in Delhi-NCR. However, the post-monsoon phase is soon expected to dominate the region's climate pattern, with hot and dry weather becoming the norm.

Residents should prepare for increasing temperatures and sunny conditions in the coming weeks. The maximum temperature on Friday, September 19, is forecasted to reach 37°C.

Yesterday, Delhi's air quality was poor, with an Air Quality Index (AQI) of 110. The levels of PM2.5 and PM10 were at 34 μg/m3 and 115 μg/m3 respectively. Today's rainfall is expected to help improve overall air quality conditions, although no significant improvement is expected after today's showers over the next seven days.

Visibility in Delhi on Wednesday was 10 kilometers due to misty conditions, and the minimum temperature was 30°C, with a maximum of 35.3°C. Humidity levels were at 53%, with winds blowing at 11.5 km/h from the southeast in the morning, shifting to northeast during the afternoon hours.

The withdrawal line currently passes through Bhatinda, Fatehabad, and Ajmer. This marks the official end of the monsoon season for northern India.

In conclusion, Delhi is set to experience light rainfall today, offering a temporary respite from the hot and dry weather. However, residents should prepare for increasing temperatures and sunny conditions in the coming weeks as the post-monsoon phase dominates the region's climate pattern. Stay tuned for further updates from the IMD.
