In the heart of Portugal, football club AVS SAD welcomed a new addition to their ranks for the 2025/26 season - 23-year-old Spanish forward Jordi Escobar. Transferred from Celta de Vigo, Escobar has a rich background in Spanish football, having completed his youth training at Valencia and gaining experience with Barcelona’s youth teams [1][2][3][4].

Escobar, who scored 11 goals in 30 matches for Celta de Vigo's B team in the Primera Federación last season, is expected to bolster AVS's attacking line under coach José Mota [1]. The team's first test of the new season came against Arouca in the opening match of the I Liga on August 9th.

The match, scheduled for 6:00 PM, saw AVS travel to Arouca. The first half remained goalless, but the second half brought excitement as AVS took the lead with a penalty scored by Nene. Mercado followed suit, netting another penalty to double AVS's advantage. Pedro Lima added to the scoreline, and Edson Mucuena sealed the victory with the final goal of the match [1].

The team's preparations for the new season included nine friendlies, during which they faced both wins and losses. AVS managed to secure three victories, but also drew four matches, and unfortunately lost two [2]. Despite these results, coach Mota was able to rely on all available players, except for Kodisang, Rivas, and Roux, in the first match against Arouca [1].

The starting lineup for the historic match consisted of João Gonçalves, Mucuana, Aderllan, Devenish, Kiki Afonso, Jaume Grau, Algobia, Tunde, Pedro Lima, Mercado, and Escobar. As the team embarks on this new chapter, fans eagerly await what the 2025/26 I Liga season holds for AVS and their new Spanish recruit, Jordi Escobar.

In the midst of football excitement in Portugal, the new Spanish recruit Jordi Escobar, known for his prowess in sports, joined AVS SAD for the 2025/26 season, potentially boosting their attacking line in the I Liga. This fresh addition, who previously played for Celta de Vigo's B team and scored 11 goals in the Primera Federación, may now lend his skills to score goals for AVS.
