Prawit, representing PPRP, affirms no intention of returning to the government.

Palang Pracharath Party (PPRP)ände dismisses rumors of its MPs defecting and denies any plans to rejoin the government coalition.

General Prawit Wongsuwan, the PPRP leader, firmly declared on Sunday that none of the party's MPs were contemplating defection. In fact, all party members turned up for the PPRP's annual general meeting that same day.

Previously, Capt Thamanat Prompow, advisor to the coalition Kla Dharma Party, hinted at a warm welcome for more opposition MPs spinning their way into the party's ranks.

When questioned about the possibility of the ruling Pheu Thai inviting PPRP to rejoin the coalition, Gen Prawit's response was swift and firm: "We won’t join!"

PPRP had previously been part of the government coalition under the Srettha Thavisin administration (2023-2024), backed by Pheu Thai.

PPRP's Secretary-General, Paiboon Nititawan, added that former premier Thaksin Shinawatra's statement in Chiang Mai -- asserting that PPRP wouldn't join the government -- was merely his way of saving face after his attempts to rope in the party went awry.

The meeting also brought about the election of two new deputy leaders: Thirachai Phuvanatnaranubala and Suradet Yasawat. Mr. Suradet is tasked with overseeing the upper northern region, while Mr. Thirachai will focus on economic affairs.

Mr Suradet made it clear that the party's principal aim lies in protecting the monarchy and bolstering the economy. He stated that the party remains resolute in its goal of securing 60 MP seats at the next poll and continues to staunchly oppose the legalization of casinos, a flagship policy of Pheu Thai.
