"Praises abound for her, as noteworthy figures stand by their convictions in the captivating Lowther Stakes competition"
In the upcoming Lowther Stakes at York Racecourse, a competitive field of talented fillies is set to take to the speed track. One of the favourites for the Group 2 race is Royal Fixation, trained by Ed Walker.
Royal Fixation finished neck second to Venetian Sun in the Duchess of Cambridge Stakes and is expected to go off as the favourite in the Lowther Stakes. Her strong performance in the Duchess of Cambridge Stakes is bolstered by her impressive win in the Albany Stakes, and her ability to dismiss a good yardstick in Argentine Tango. However, trainer Ed Walker believes she is "too short" in this competitive running.
Another contender is America Queen, a filly trained by Richard Hughes. She made a statement in her last race, winning a 6f Haydock fillies' maiden by 12 lengths, recording a finishing speed (FS) of 102.64%. Her runner-up in that race finished at 97.48% FS, suggesting a well-run race, but America Queen was slower through the first five furlongs than Front Line Fury.
Jaber Abdullah, owner of America Queen and Mood Queen, has three runners in the race this year. Mood Queen, who finished last in the Duchess of Cambridge Stakes but won at Newmarket before that, is expected to play the hare in the race. Chris Wall, racing manager to Victorious Forever, owners of Staya, believes that Staya's versatility regarding trip should suit the speed track at York.
Dylan Cunha, trainer of Come On Eibhlin, is confident about their chances in the race. Meanwhile, Philip Robinson, the owner's racing manager, believes Dandana has done nothing wrong in winning both starts. Wor Faayth, trained by Brian Ellison, states that Wor Faayth won a Listed race in the French provinces.
Secret Hideaway, a filly who has run at the Knavesmire, is overpriced with Oisin Murphy up for the first time. She came from last to first to win a strongly run Marygate over 5f in May and should have more to offer over 6f.
Royal Fixation's concern is her wide berth in stall 11, but she is in close proximity to two pace angles in Dandana (ten) and Mood Queen (nine). With a competitive field and a variety of contenders, the Lowther Stakes at York Racecourse promises to be an exciting event.
