Prairie View A&M Kicks Off Season With Convincing 24-3 Victory Over Southern

Prairie View A&M started their season with a convincing 24-3 win over Southern, thanks to a strong performance from their running game and a solid display from their quarterback, Cameron Peters. The scoring opened in the second quarter with a 15-yard touchdown run by Lamagea McDowell. Before the half, Peters connected with Jyzaiah Rockwell for a 13-yard TD pass, and Aiden Webb added a 30-yard field goal, giving Prairie View A&M a comfortable 17-0 lead at the break. McDowell finished the game with 56 yards on 16 carries, while Chase Bingmon contributed 64 yards rushing and 52 yards receiving. McDowell sealed the win with a 1-yard TD late in the game. Peters was efficient, completing 19 of 31 passes for 224 yards. On the other side, Trey Holly rushed for 99 yards for the Jaguars. For Southern, Nathan Zimmer managed their only points with a 36-yard field goal. Ashton Strother threw for 81 yards and an interception.
