Prague match ends in a late draw for Bodö, the victor of the storm
Slavia Prague and Bodø/Glimt played out an exciting 2:2 draw in their Champions League encounter, with the Norwegian side demonstrating resilience to come from behind twice.
The match started on a positive note for Slavia Prague, as Tomas Holes opened the scoring in the 23rd minute, assisted by Lukas Provod. However, the Czech side's joy was short-lived as Holes had to leave the game due to injury just six minutes later.
Despite the setback, Slavia Prague continued to press, with Youssoupha Mbodji doubling their lead in the 23rd minute, also set up by Provod. However, Bodø/Glimt refused to yield, and Hakon Evjen made the game dangerous for Slavia Prague during a balanced phase.
In the second half, Bodø/Glimt was awarded a penalty, but Kasper Waarst Hogh failed to convert, keeping the score at 2:0 in favour of Slavia Prague. The Norwegian side, however, showed their determination, and Daniel Joshua Bassi Jakobsen scored a goal as a substitute in the 78th minute, reducing the deficit to 2:1.
The game seemed to be slipping away from Slavia Prague, and Jindrich Trpisovsky, coach of Slavia Prague, will have to work hard to recover from losing a two-goal lead. Bodø/Glimt, on the other hand, pushed harder, and Sondre Fet scored the equalizing goal in the 90th minute, making the final score 2:2.
Alesesh Mandous, Slavia Prague's goalkeeper, did not concede a goal from the penalty, but it was not enough to secure a win for the Czech side. The spectacular point gained by Bodø/Glimt could prove invaluable in the end of the league phase, as both teams start the phase with one point each.
In the parallel match, Olympiakos Piraeus and Pafos FC played out a goalless draw. Pafos played with a disadvantage due to Bruno's yellow-red card in the 25th minute, but neither side could find the back of the net.
The draw between Slavia Prague and Bodø/Glimt feels like a defeat for the Czech side, while Bodø/Glimt celebrates a typical Knutsen victory. The two teams will meet again in the league phase, and the rematch promises to be just as exciting.
