Revamped and Rebooted: A Hot Lap Through Practice 2 of the 2025 Platform Spanish Grand Prix

The sun was scorching hot as the second practice session for the 2025 Spanish Grand Prix kicked off. Contenders revved their engines, ready to take on the Spanish track. In the end, it was Oscar Piastri from McLaren who claimed the top spot, blazing a trail with a stunning time of 1:12.7601.

George Russell from Mercedes gave Piastri a run for his money, coming in 0.286 seconds behind. Max Verstappen from Red Bull wasn't far off, recording a lap time that saw him finish just 0.310 seconds behind Piastri1.

The fight for position was tight, with Lando Norris from McLaren and Charles Leclerc from Ferrari hot on their heels. Norris and Leclerc managed to nudge their way into the top five, respectively13.

The first part of the session saw Lando Norris setting an early quick lap, followed by Oscar Piastri who took over the lead. George Russell then stepped up the pace, briefly claiming the top spot before being toppled by Max Verstappen. However, Piastri wasn't done yet. He reclaimed the lead with a sizzling lap time that put him nearly three-tenths clear of Russell1.

Ferrari struggled for grip in the hot conditions, with both Charles Leclerc and Lewis Hamilton struggling to find speed. Hamilton expressed his frustration by calling his Ferrari "undriveable" and ended the session in 11th place13.

The remaining spots in the session were claimed by the likes of Kimi Antonelli from Mercedes, Fernando Alonso from Aston Martin, Pierre Gasly from Alpine, the Racing Bulls duo of Isack Hadjar and Liam Lawson, and the Williams duo of Carlos Sainz and Alex Albon.
