Prabhas's upcoming movie "Raja Saab" potential release date shift reported; producer shares insights on the matter
In an exciting turn of events, the release date of Prabhas' much-anticipated film, "The Raja Saab," has been postponed from December 5, 2025, to January 9, 2026, to align with the Sankranthi festival.
The change in the release date was revealed by producer TG Vishwa Prasad following discussions with distributors and stakeholders. This adjustment allows for the completion of pending patchwork, song shoots, and post-production VFX work, ensuring the film's quality remains top-notch.
The original release date of December 5, 2025, was favoured by Bollywood buyers, but the team behind "The Raja Saab" believes a January launch offers better market potential. This shift is a strategic move to capitalize on the festive season, which is known for boosting box office collections in the Telugu states.
The change in the release date is indirectly confirmed by the absence of a release date in recent promotional material, such as Malavika Mohanan’s birthday poster.
"The Raja Saab" is not the only film affected by this change. Ranveer Singh's film "Dhurandhar," which was also slated for a December 5, 2025, release, may also be postponed.
Directed by Maruthi and featuring Prabhas in a double role, "The Raja Saab" is a horror-comedy. The film boasts a star-studded cast, including Sanjay Dutt, Nidhhi Agerwal, Malavika Mohanan, and Riddhi Kumar.
The film's runtime will be decided by director Maruthi, with potential runtimes of 2 hours 45 minutes or 3 hours 15 minutes. Thaman S is responsible for the music composition, while Karthik Palani is the cinematographer.
"The Raja Saab" was initially scheduled for release on April 10, 2025, but has been pushed back twice. The film is expected to be ready by October, but a final decision on the release date will be made soon.
In addition to the upcoming release, a sequel to "The Raja Saab" has been confirmed. The first look poster of Sanjay Dutt for "The Raja Saab" was unveiled on his birthday.
