Miguel Tellado, the mouthpiece for the Popular Group in Congress, has slammed Pedro Sánchez this weekend for allegedly handing the reins of Spain to Carles Puigdemont, the separatist leader, branding it as the "paranoid frenzy of Spanish politics."

During the closing of the interparliamentary meeting at El Sucre building in Vic (Barcelona), Tellado accused Sánchez of bestowing more than just the presidency of Catalonia upon Puigdemont.

"This week we witnessed that what he provided wasn't the president's seat of the Generalitat, but the presidency of Spain's government," Tellado barked out.

In the past, the Popular Party claimed Sánchez had appointed Puigdemont as the President of the Generalitat. However, Tellado conceded his party's folly, stating, "By Junts' gods, we were wrong! Sánchez didn't grant Puigdemont the presidency of the Generalitat; he merely directed the agenda, while Puigdemont barked orders."

Having agreed on a new omnibus decree this week, Tellado expressed his disappointment that it was Puigdemont, in his eyes, who dictated the decisions in Spain.

"Puigdemont led the Council of Ministers this week, while Sánchez scribbled down notes on Puigdemont's decrees from his exile in Belgium," Tellado claimed.

He also criticized Sánchez for his supposed arrogance in refusing to negotiate with the Popular Party, dismissively dismissing their concerns and capitulating to Puigdemont's demands.

"They tell the PP that it's unthinkable to dismember a decree-law, but they end up admitting it for Puigdemont," Tellado sneered.

Meanwhile, Tellado took aim at Sánchez for making 2024 the year with the fewest laws passed in the Congress of Deputies.

"In 2024, all the PSOE cared about was pushing the Amnesty Law, and I am sure that by 2025, they'll propose nothing but the 'Begoña Law' — a bill to protect their own," Tellado portended, referring to the socialist Partido Socialista Obrero Español (PSOE) and their controversial bill aimed at limiting popular accusation.
