Oksana Romashechina: A Powerlifting Phenom Overcoming Challenges

Oksana Romashechina, a resident of Habarovsk, has made a name for herself in the world of powerlifting. With eleven years of dedication to the sport, she has risen to become a Master of Sports in powerlifting, specializing in the equipped division.

Competing in the equipped division, Oksana has faced challenges that are common among powerlifters who use supportive gear like squat suits and bench shirts. The division is known for producing impressive records, but the requirements for skill and level of preparation are also significantly higher.

Despite the intense competition, Oksana has managed to excel, earning medals and setting significant lifts in regional and national competitions. Her achievements have not only showcased her strength and technique but have also contributed to raising the profile of powerlifting in the Far East region of Russia, inspiring upcoming lifters.

One of the keys to Oksana's success is her focus on maintaining a clear mind during competitions, a piece of advice she received from her trainer, Anatoly Leonov, who is also the president of the Khabarovsk Krai powerlifting federation.

Oksana's journey into powerlifting began when she joined a gym, where she was inspired by a friend who had already achieved the norm of a master of sports in powerlifting. Since then, she has balanced her intensive training schedules with personal and professional commitments, proving that dedication and perseverance can lead to greatness.

However, Oksana still encounters stereotypes that strength sports are not for women. She argues that sports are within women's capabilities and reasonable norms are needed. Oksana reminds us that once football and hockey were considered exclusively male sports, but now women's teams perform just as successfully on the ice and on the fields.

This year, Oksana achieved the norm of an international master of sports, a testament to her dedication and skill. Despite her achievements, she does not strive for victory at any cost and avoids lifting excessive weight, risking her health and early retirement from sports.

In addition to her powerlifting career, Oksana has also made waves in the model ship sport, winning a world championship in the category. Her story is a testament to her versatility and resilience, demonstrating that she is more than just a powerlifting champion.

Sports have played a significant role in Oksana Romashechina's life, as she found inspiration in her friend who excelled in powerlifting, and later became a Master of Sports herself. In her impressive career, she has not only set records in the equipped division of powerlifting but also claimed a world championship in the model ship sport.
