The Heilbronner Falken began their third season in the Oberliga Süd with a triumphant start, defeating the Passau Black Ravens 4-1 in a thrilling encounter at the Passau Ice Arena. The game, played on a Friday evening, saw the Falken take an early lead when Freddy Cabana scored the first goal of the season for the team. The goal, assisted by Robin Just, was scored in the 12th minute of the game from a sharp angle into the short corner. Calder Anderson extended the lead in the 28th minute with a goal assisted by Thore Weyrauch. The third goal came in the 37th minute, with Sebastian Hon deflecting a shot from Leon Fern to find the back of the net. Niklas Jentsch added the fourth goal for the Falken in the 39th minute with a well-placed shot. The Passau Black Ravens managed to score their only goal of the game in the final period, with Zachary Nazzarett finding the net in the 52nd minute. Patrick Berger, the goalkeeper for the Falken, was in fine form, letting only one of the 40 shots from Passau get through. Berger's impressive performance earned him the player of the game accolade. The Falken were ruthlessly effective in power play in the second period, converting all three opportunities into goals. The referees for the game were Florian Meineke and Maik Blankart. As the Falken celebrate their first win of the season, they look forward to their next game against SC Riessersee on Sunday at 18:30.
