Powerful February storm devastates Zhanaozen District homes and infrastructure

A powerful storm swept through Zhanaozen District in February 2024, leaving widespread damage in its wake. High winds toppled a flagpole on Beibitshilik Street, tore roofs from homes for sale, and knocked down power lines, causing temporary blackouts across the area.

The storm hit hardest in residential zones, ripping off parts of roofs on buildings No. 32, 33, 34, and 35 in the 1st microdistrict. Nearby, roofs on buildings No. 6 in the 3rd microdistrict and No. 15 and 15a in the 4th microdistrict also suffered severe damage. Beyond homes for sale, the winds uprooted electricity poles, damaged school and kindergarten roofs, and sent billboards crashing down.

Over 1,200 houses were affected, while fallen power lines triggered outages and blocked roads. Despite the destruction, no injuries were reported. Local authorities quickly set up an emergency response team to manage repairs and restore services.

Repair crews are now working across the district to fix damaged buildings and infrastructure. While power has been partially restored, some homes for sale still face disruptions. Officials confirm the situation remains under control, with no further risks expected.
