Born on August 9, 1994, in the Dutch town of Blaricum, Vermeij embarked on his professional football career at HSV Zuidvogels. His impressive performances caught the attention of clubs in Germany, where he has played for MSV Duisburg, SC Freiburg II, and Fortuna Düsseldorf.
