Hit the Lights Again, Granada!

Phew, Granada! After finding ourselves in the dark since late yesterday, things are starting to look up. At around 4:30 AM today, we've managed to kick-start the juices flowing back into some areas. Let's hope this lights up the whole city soon!

In the capital, the City Council called an emergency plan during the afternoon to battle problems stemming from the power outage. They shuttered all municipal centers, social services, and sports facilities.

The University of Granada decided to can the afternoon's academic action yesterday in the hope to jump back on the horse today if power's restored. Fortunately, they kept the important stuff lit, with their electric generators, without any major snags.

Granada's encountered some rough patches, with lines at bakeries and battery shops, closed stores, and dark supermarkets. But on the flip side, the bars were buzzing and ice cream shops kept churning out the sweet treats!

Our brave Local Police lent a hand with some health emergencies and traffic mishaps, while the firefighters saved folks stuck in elevators. Even in the darkest times, they're here to keep us safe!

Fortunately, monuments like the Alhambra were still accessible yesterday afternoon, although some areas like the museum were off-limits.

So, what caused this blackout? Seems like there's a rare weather-related phenomenon to blame. Extreme temperature fluctuations over inland Spain led to "atmospheric vibrations," causing trouble for those high-voltage power lines (400kV) - resulting in a disrupted European power grid and outages in multiple regions, including Granada[2][3][4]. There were also reports of a line fault and possible fires in southern France, but they're not confirmed as the main culprits[1][3]. The power's comin' back, but slowly, with folks working tirelessly to reconnect the network[1].
