Poudre Fire Authority Modernizes Station 11 for Remote Wildland Response

Poudre Fire Authority (PFA) is currently renovating Station 11, one of its two volunteer fire stations, situated in the Redstone Canyon area west of Fort Collins. The existing building, primarily a large apparatus bay with limited storage and workspace, was initially constructed in 1995 and has served one of the most remote regions within PFA's jurisdiction for over two decades.

The remodel project aims to modernize the structure, improving functionality and comfort for the volunteer firefighters who staff the station from Memorial Day through Labor Day. Station 11's coverage area is entirely wildland, accessible only by one county road and several U.S. Forest Service access roads. The project recognizes the essential service of these volunteers who respond to emergencies in difficult-to-access terrain in Larimer County.

The remodel also aims to enhance PFA's readiness during the region's increasingly active wildfire seasons. The authority hopes to provide the volunteers with necessary resources to better serve the community and protect lives and properties in the remote areas.

The modernization of Station 11 is underway, with the goal of improving functionality and comfort for the volunteer firefighters who serve the remote Redstone Canyon area. The project is a testament to Poudre Fire Authority's commitment to enhancing readiness and safety in the face of increasingly active wildfire seasons.
