Potential weather conditions in Houston on Friday: Predominantly humid, occasional light rain showers may occur; keeping a close eye on the Atlantic weather developments
Houston residents can expect a mix of showers and storms this weekend, according to the latest forecast from Your Gulf Coast Weather Authority.
Saturday will see the highest potential for showers and storms. Scattered showers are likely, with the possibility of locally strong storms producing brief heavy rain and gusty winds. The source of this weather activity is lingering Gulf moisture, which will create isolated to scattered precipitation over the area, particularly during the afternoon and evening hours.
Sunday will be a transition day with decreasing moisture and scattered diurnal storm activity tapering off. Starting Monday, drier and warmer conditions are expected as ridging builds back into the region.
Monday-Wednesday are expected to be generally drier and warmer with less precipitation.
Currently, there is no indication of any tropical system directly impacting Houston this weekend. However, a hurricane is being monitored in the Atlantic farther east. The first tropical wave could become a tropical storm or even a hurricane over the next seven days, but it doesn't appear to be a threat to Texas.
Two areas are being monitored in the Atlantic with the potential for development over the next several days. Lower pressure will move in, bringing higher chances for scattered showers and storms on Saturday. Meanwhile, the high pressure in Texas will weaken and move westward this weekend.
A small low could develop between the Carolinas and Bermuda, but its future is uncertain.
Stay weather aware during afternoons on Sunday and Monday, as a few storms could be heavy. Keep an eye on the forecast for updates on any potential tropical systems that may affect the Houston area in the coming days.

Texas may experience scattered showers and storms on Saturday, given the likely influence of lingering Gulf moisture. Conversely, Sunday will see a decrease in such weather activity, marking a transition towards drier and warmer conditions from Monday onwards.
