Potential Scenario at General Hospital: Drew's Despicable Actions trigger a Baffling Homicide Enigma?
In all my years tuning into daytime soaps, it's rare for a character to ignite as much vitriol as General Hospital's Drew Cain (Cameron Mathison). Each time I think he's hit rock bottom with his questionable morals, he slips another rung lower.
On the latest episode that aired on June 9, Drew's scheme reached a new low. After witnessing Willow (Katelyn MacMullen) and Michael (Rory Gibson) looking content with their families, including Michael's new daughter Daisy, Drew decided to pull a desperate move. To prevent a truce between Willow and Michael, he purposefully spoke with Ric (Rick Hearst) in front of Wiley (Viron Weaver) about gaining custody of the children. Murmuring, "Willow and I need custody of Wiley and Amelia, because now that Michael has the new baby, he doesn't want Wiley and Amelia anymore," Drew directly attacked Wiley's emotions. Thankfully, Michael soon came to reassure Wiley that he still loves his son.
When Michael revealed Drew's words to Willow, she was shocked by the betrayal. Even proposing that Wiley might have misunderstood Drew, Willow faced anger from Michael, who accused her yet again of putting Drew ahead of their children.
Frankly, it's become frustrating to watch Willow's naivety towards Drew persist. I can't help but hope that Willow's custody rights are revoked, leaving her with supervised visits outside the presence of Drew. As harsh as it might sound, this dysfunctional dynamic between Willow and Drew has reached absurd levels (and hey, it's daytime TV).
Now, you may wonder how General Hospital writers could possibly salvage Drew's character with Port Charles' residents or the viewers. Outside of the theory that Drew could secretly be Shiloh (Coby Ryan McLaughlin), which I've speculated before, it seems Drew's future may lie in a prison cell or worse. Given it would be challenging to pin a crime on him, his demise might come at the hands of someone trying to eliminate him.
Speaking of which, if I were to guess who might take it upon themselves to elimiate Drew, there could be several suspects among the soap world's colorful cast:
- Willow: Frustrated by Drew's manipulating her and her kids, Willow might act out in a blind rage, with potentially deadly consequences.
- Nina (Cynthia Watros): In an unexpected turn of events, Nina, Drew's mother, might interfere to protect her daughter and even claim responsibility, seeing herself as defense attorney and possible lucky charm in a court of law.
As we impatiently wait to see how Drew's downfall unfolds, let's all hope it happens sooner rather than later.
