"Postponing Tour Dates for Mourning: Pantera Halts Performances in Honor of Ozzy Osbourne"

Pantera, the iconic heavy metal band, has announced the postponement of several tour dates as they pay tribute to their mentor and friend, Ozzy Osbourne, who passed away last week at the age of 76.

The band, which features former Ozzy guitarist Zakk Wylde, has a deep-rooted connection to the legendary rock star. Pantera's appreciation for Ozzy is evident in their repeated tributes and cover performances of Black Sabbath songs associated with him, reflecting a profound musical influence and admiration.

Over the years, Pantera has paid homage to Ozzy through performances of songs like "Electric Funeral" and "Planet Caravan," the latter being included in their 1994 album Far Beyond Driven. These tribute performances are marked by somber and spine-chilling renditions accompanied by visuals celebrating Ozzy’s life, indicating a profound musical influence and admiration.

Zakk Wylde, who was recruited by Pantera to step into the shoes of the late Dimebag Darrell in 2023, shares a close personal and professional relationship with Ozzy. Wylde was Ozzy's longest-serving guitarist and was by his side when he performed his last solo set at the Back to the Beginning farewell show mere weeks before his death.

In an emotional new interview, Wylde paid tribute to Ozzy, expressing the bond between them and the impact he had on his career. "Ozzy wasn't just a legend who shaped heavy metal, he was family, a mentor, and a constant presence in my life," Wylde said.

Pantera's July 28 show in Saratoga Springs has been shifted to September 9, and their July 31 show in Holmdel will be moved to September 8. The shows on July 19 in Gildford, NH, September 8 in Birmingham, AL, and September 10 in Virginia Beach, VA have been cancelled.

The band's statement on social media confirms that some dates will be rescheduled and others cancelled due to mourning the late Ozzy Osbourne. The rescheduling is to give time and space to grieve, and heartfelt tributes have been made by Ozzy's Sabbath bandmates, including Geezer Butler.

There has been an outpouring of tributes from the music world following Ozzy Osbourne's death, with artists and fans alike paying their respects to the iconic rock star. The bond between Pantera and Ozzy ran far deeper than music, and his influence extends beyond music to deep personal camaraderie.
