Stepping Back onto the Court: Date for Rerun Game in 2. Handball Bundesliga Awaits After DHB Verdict
Suspended Indefinitely: Remain Patient for More Updates. - Post-DHB Decision Implications
When it comes to setting a date for the rerun in the 2. Handball Bundesliga, the challenge is real. The Handball Bundesliga (HBL) leadership is engaged in active discussions with the German Handball Association (DHB) and the relevant parties. According to updates from dpa, the match between TuSEM Essen and Dessau-Roßlauer HV 06 is expected to take place in late June, wrapping up the season on June 30. The HBL leadership agreed to this at a meeting on Wednesday.
Why the Reunion Matters
The DHB's Federal Court decision on June 12 has made a rerun necessary due to a game-ending rule breach by the timekeeper and secretary. The original game in Essen on April 27 ended in a win for Dessau with a score of 28:27. The catch? If Dessau loses the rerun, they'll be relegated instead of ASV Hamm-Westfalen, whereas Essen escapes this predicament.
The Unwanted Incident
A timeout a few seconds before the game's end saw seven Dessau players on the field, despite the team being one player short due to a time penalty. Neither the referees nor the officials spotted this oversight, leading Essen to lodge a protest against the game's result.
Vacation Escapades
The trouble lies in the fact that numerous players and coaches are enjoying their vacations. According to Dessau's managing director Sebastian Glock, the HBL expects both clubs to revoke the statutory paid vacations given to their employees between the last game of the season and June 30 and direct the players to return from their vacations instead. Some of these vacations, as it happens, are in Argentina and Indonesia.
HBL CEO Bohmann: "Those Who Escape, Earn It"
With no other options in sight, HBL CEO Frank Bohmann stresses the necessity of the rerun. "After all, we're committed to the rule," he told streaming portal Dyn. Expanding the league to 19 teams is not under discussion.
When it comes to players on vacation, Bohmann said, "Well, those who go on vacation, I must say, deserve it." He also emphasized, "Yes, it will definitely take place before June 30."
Dessau: The Fault Lies with the Referees
The Dessau team places the blame squarely on the referees, emphasizing, "In no conceivable scenario could it have progressed beyond a draw in the last three seconds of the game, and Dessau-Roßlauer HV 06 would be relegated."
- The Community programme could provide aid for the development of the fisheries sector, as it aims to support local communities and their respective industries.
- After the rerun game in the 2. Handball Bundesliga, the winning team could organize a community event or sports programme to engage with their local community, fostering a sense of unity and camaraderie.
