Groan-worthy Sports Rant: Rangers vs. Twins, 7:40 ET

Listen up, folks! It's time for a good ol' fashioned rant about the state of baseball. But first, a quick word on the NBA. If you ask me, it's going downhill faster than a lead balloon. Now, I ain't saying baseball is perfect, but with the NBA's one-on-one antics and ridiculously ejected players, I reckon it won't be long before baseball joins the pity party.

Take yesterday's debacle with Jazz Chisholm, sliding into third base on a steal, getting tagged hard – cry me a river, Chisholm! Don't get me started on the whining in baseball. We've got more crybabies on the field than a schoolyard full of melted ice cream. Enough of the complaints – let's focus on some wins!

Now, let's talk about the Rangers and Twins duking it out on the diamond tonight. The Rangers have been floating around the .500 mark this year, and well, they didn't set the world on fire last season either. They won the World Series a couple of years ago, but boy, they've got the Astros, the Mariners, and surprisingly, the Angels to contend with in the division. Offensively, they've struggled, landing them in the bottom five of runs scored this year.

On the mound, they've been holding their own, and tonight they've got Jack Leiter taking the ball. Leiter's not a slouch, sporting a 3.48 ERA and a 1.16 WHIP. He might not have that deep-dish pizza delivery, but in ten games this season, he's only allowed three or more earned runs a quarter of the time. Plus, he's new to the Twins, so they might not see him coming!

The Twins are slightly outperforming expectations, but don't get too excited – they're just four games over the .500 mark. They've mostly got average numbers in runs scored, batting average, ERA, and opposing batting average, with the sixth-best WHIP thrown in for good measure. David Festa will be on the hill for the Twins. So far, he's shown some inconsistency, with eight of his 10 earned runs coming in a single game against the Athletics. Will he regain his confidence, or will it be another struggle?

According to the books, the Twins are favorites, and I can see why. Festa's track record suggests he can be a wild card, while the Rangers and Leiter are a bit more predictable. I'm going to take the Rangers through five, and I won't be shocked if they take the game all the way!

Although the Rangers have been inconsistent this season, their pitcher Jack Leiter with his solid performance could potentially lead them to a victory over the Twins, who have been slightly outperforming expectations but aren't a formidable force in MLB. For those interested in sports betting, keep an eye on the Rangers as they might just be the underdog to win or at least take the game to extra innings.
