"Positive Weather Outlook Unveiled by Vilfand"
Moscow Experiences Early Indian Summer, Offering Unique Summer Warmth
Moscow, the capital region, is currently basking in its first true Indian summer of the season, with mild conditions gracing the city on August 9 and 10. This early warmth, announced by Roman Vilfand, the scientific director of Russia's Hydrometeorological Center, is a departure from the usual seasonal patterns and has left residents enjoying an extended summer.
The early Indian summer in Moscow is primarily attributed to an unusual heat wave and possibly ongoing regional drought conditions affecting parts of Russia. This early warmth contrasts with the usual seasonal patterns where an Indian summer—characterized by mildly warm, dry weather following the first frost—typically occurs later in the year.
The water temperature in central Moscow bodies of water matches the air temperature, with some places even slightly warmer, ensuring comfort during swimming. The air temperature during the day will slightly warm up by Sunday, reaching +24...+25°C, while the water temperature in Moscow's bodies of water will range from +18 to +24°C on August 9 and 10.
This year, Moscow has beaten the southern coasts and is treating its residents to early mild summer warmth. The Indian summer conditions are expected to be similar to those typically experienced at seaside resorts in September, making it an ideal time for water activities, outdoor trips, or beach relaxation in Moscow.
The announcement was reported by ANews, and meteorologists consider mid-August an ideal time for such activities in Moscow. Those sensitive to cold can swim without worries during this period, as the rainfall in Moscow is only slightly above normal, with no severe weather or sudden cold snaps forecast.
The swimming season in Moscow is expected to last at least another week due to stable weather conditions. However, the next such meteorological stroke of luck in Moscow, offering similar conditions for water activities, may not come around for a while. So, Moscow residents are encouraged to make the most of this unique summer experience while it lasts.
