Portuguese football unites to raise storm relief funds with every goal scored
A new solidarity campaign has launched in Portuguese football to support storm victims. The initiative, backed by the League of Clubs, the Professional Footballers' Union, and the Record newspaper, will donate money for every goal scored in the top two divisions. All funds will go to the Red Cross for relief efforts in affected regions.
The campaign covers 36 teams across the Primeira Liga and Segunda Liga, including 18 in the top flight. Famous clubs like SL Benfica and FC Porto are taking part. Every goal in the Primeira Liga will raise €100, while Segunda Liga goals contribute €50.
Former Portugal striker **Éder** is the campaign's ambassador. His winning goal in the Euro 2016 final has already added €4,000 to the fund. The money will help victims of recent storms in the West and Leiria regions, where damage has been severe.
The initiative aims to provide direct aid through the Red Cross. With matches ongoing, the total raised will grow as more goals are scored. The campaign's organisers hope the football community's support will make a real difference for those recovering from the storms.
