Portugal Braces for Strong Winds and Heavy Rain as Yellow Alert Issued
Wednesday brings varied weather across Portugal, with minimum temperatures ranging from 13°C in Guarda to 19°C in Lisbon, Leiria, and Santarém. A yellow alert is issued for eight northern districts due to strong winds and rain.
Southwesterly winds will shift northwest, gusting up to 95 kilometers per hour in highland areas of Bragança, Viseu, Porto, Guarda, Vila Real, Viana do Castelo, and Braga. These districts will be under alert on Wednesday and Thursday.
Rain is expected across mainland Portugal, particularly in the north and center. It will intensify in Minho and Douro Litoral regions by late afternoon. Maximum temperatures will vary between 19°C in Guarda and Viseu to 27°C in Évora.
Strong winds are expected in highland areas, along with mist or fog in some locations. The districts of Viseu, Porto, Vila Real, Viana do Castelo, Aveiro, and Braga will face persistent rain turning into heavy showers, occasionally accompanied by thunderstorms.
The yellow alert remains in effect for eight northern districts until Thursday. Residents and visitors are advised to take necessary precautions due to strong winds and heavy rain.
