Talks about cost-cutting round: Is Porsche's job guarantee at risk? - Porsche Faces Job Cuts and E-Mobility Shift as Sales Slump

Porsche is grappling with a 'crisis of the framework conditions', including a struggling China business and the shift to e-mobility. The company and its works council are discussing further cost-cutting measures to secure its future, with job cuts and the employment guarantee on the table.

Porsche has already agreed to reduce 1,900 jobs in the Stuttgart region by 2029. Now, it's negotiating a second savings program that could put another 4,000 to 5,000 jobs at risk. However, the existing employment guarantee, valid until the end of July 2030, currently excludes dismissals for operational reasons. Talks are ongoing about extending this guarantee, with the works council favouring an extension.

The company's struggles are reflected in its sales figures. In the first nine months of the year, Porsche sold around 212,500 vehicles, a decrease of about six percent compared to the same period last year. The costs for Porsche's corporate restructuring amount to 3.1 billion euros, with the strategic shift towards combustion engines expected to significantly lower profits this year.

Porsche is navigating a challenging period with a 'crisis of the framework conditions' and a shift to e-mobility. Job cuts and the future of the employment guarantee are under discussion. Despite these challenges, Porsche is working to secure its future through cost-cutting measures and strategic shifts.
