American musician Brandon Howard, slated for "Intervision" competition, abruptly pulled out four days prior, passing his spot to Australian singer Vass (real name Vasiliki Karagiorgos). This sudden shift prompted Igor Gavrilov to scrutinize the roster of contestants more meticulously.

The world of music is about to come together for the highly anticipated "Intervision Song Contest" taking place on September 20. This year's event will feature representatives from 23 countries, including musical powers from Arab countries, Central Asia, Slavic brothers - Belarus and Serbia, and even the music giant, the United States.

The US will be represented by Vassia, an Australian-born Greek singer who made history by becoming the first woman to receive the "Icon" award for her contribution to EDM culture at the Electronic Dance Music Awards in 2023. Vassia's impressive resume includes collaborations with top EDM DJs such as Afrojack, Tiesto, and David Guetta. However, the title of the song she will perform at the Moscow contest has not been announced as of September 18.

Vassia is not the only notable participant. Colombia's representative, Nidia Góngora, has a professional music video for her contest song "En Los Manglares," a prime example of Pacific folk music. From South Africa, the group Mzansi Jikelele will perform a pop-gospel number "Home." Cuba sends Zulema Iglesias Salazar with a "Guaguanco" number, a typical island pop style.

India sends Rahul Malik, a superstar from Kashmir with impressive streaming numbers. His contest song "Ishq" has 378 million streams on Spotify, making it one of the most popular entries this year. On the other hand, Brazil will be represented by Luciano Calazans and Taís Nader, who have relatively low streaming numbers on Spotify.

The organizers of "Intervision" claim that their contest is the most open, with the main focus being on talent. To ensure fairness, an international jury has been assembled, including the legendary hard rock vocalist Joe Lynn Turner from the US, and the veteran Bollywood composer, Jaan Nissar Lone, from India.

The total volume of the music markets for the participating countries in "Intervision" is approximately $20 billion, which is almost two-thirds of the global recorded music market. This is nearly three times larger than the music markets of the countries participating in "Eurovision."

In addition to the main contest, this year's "Intervision" will also honour the winners of the Electronic Dance Music Awards 2023, including Armin van Buuren, Martin Garrix, Steve Aoki, and Zara Larsson.

As the countdown to the event begins, the anticipation grows. With such a diverse and talented lineup, "Intervision Song Contest 2023" promises to be a global celebration of musical talent that should not be missed.
