Warsaw Update: Election Tension Ahead
Poll Reveals KO Leading Slightly Over PiS in Tight Electoral Contest
Prepare for a fierce electoral battle in Warsaw, as a poll reveals a tight race between the Civic Coalition (KO) and the Law and Justice Party (PiS) on the eve of parliamentary elections. A survey conducted by IBRiS for "Rzeczpospolita" suggests that if elections were held this weekend, 61.3% of voters would cast their ballots.
Poll Findings
The survey shows that KO edged out PiS, with 31.8% and 30.3% support respectively. The remaining parties' standings are as follows:
- Third Way: 12.7%
- The Left: 8.9%
- Confederation: 7%
Nearly 9.3% of respondents remain undecided.
Expert Analysis
Sociologist Prof. Henryk Domański of the Polish Academy of Sciences weighed in on the poll results, noting the close contest between KO and PiS. Though both parties maintain steady support, the narrow gap between them falls within the margin of error. Prof. Domański expressed some skepticism about the reported high voter turnout, suggesting it may be an overestimate.
