Politicians Switching Political Affiliation Should Face Consequences, Says Utomi to Secret Service

In an unexpected turn of events, Labour Party stalwart, Pat Utomi, has called out the Department of State Services (DSS) for focusing on non-issues, urging them to instead tackle politicians violating the nation's constitution.

As reported by our website, a legal feud between Utomi and the DSS has arisen, with allegations of Utomi forming a shadow government opposed to the administration of President Bola Tinubu.

However, in response to the DSS's legal action, Utomi has fired back, accusing the internal intelligence agency of misplaced priorities. He argued that the DSS should be targeting politicians who defect from their parties while continuing to hold onto their positions, a clear breach of the constitution.

"It's astounding that we're chasing shadows while our constitution unravels with the help of those in power. The constitution mandates that defectors from their original parties should have their seats declared vacant. If the DSS is eager to step into court, they ought to prosecute these violations," he asserted.

On his Twitter, Utomi also accused the All Progressives Congress (APC) of attempting to create a one-party state, funding crises in rival parties to achieve this goal[2].

"With the one-party state ambitions of the APC, coupled with their financing of crises in all external parties, coupled with politicians' greed to remain in their prebendal zones of sharing, the desperation in the system meant the necessity of the Big Tent shadow team," he tweeted.

He went on to clarify that the primary mission of his Big Tent shadow team was to educate Nigerians on government policies and empower them to hold leaders accountable[3].

"The aim of the Big Tent shadow team is a straightforward endeavor aimed at educating the populace about governance and policy options, as well as holding power accountable. I first proposed a shadow group as a means of deepening our democracy approximately fourteen years ago," he added.
