In the picturesque region of Southwest Mecklenburg, a unique educational project titled "From Grain to Healthy Bread" is making waves. Master Baker Roland Görlitz, along with Michel Kruger from the Southwest Mecklenburg Chamber of Crafts, has spearheaded this initiative to teach participants about the entire bread-making process, from grain cultivation to producing nutritious loaves.

The project's hands-on approach encourages learners to engage directly with the materials and techniques involved in creating healthy bread. From grain selection and milling to dough preparation and baking, participants gain a deep understanding of the traditional baking methods and the importance of quality ingredients.

To ensure the project's success and reach, Master Baker Görlitz has forged collaborations with local politicians and educational institutions. This partnership allows the project to be integrated into school curricula or community programs, fostering broader community involvement and support. Local policymakers, such as Health and Social Minister Stefanie Drese and district administrator Stefan Sternberg, often promote the project, facilitate resources, and endorse its educational value. Schools, like the gymnasial school center in Dömitz, provide venues and participant groups, such as students.

The "From Grain to Healthy Bread" project day is designed to demonstrate the production of healthy food to children and young people. By participating in this experiential learning event, they learn about agriculture, craft, and production companies, and some have even decided to pursue internships or apprenticeships in the crafts sector as a result. The project aims to educate not only students but also their parents and teachers about opportunities and prospects in the crafts sector and rural areas.

The revised concept of the project now includes staple foods and craft professions that produce and process these foods, expanding its focus to cover healthy nutrition in general. The project's motto is "From Grain to Healthy Bread - Nutrition, Training, and Future in the Crafts Sector."

Michél Krüger believes that regional cooperation, financial resources, and political will are essential to implement and expand the project nationwide. As the project continues to gain traction, more people, like school principal Marcel Warmt, are recognising the potential of the intermediate school leaving certificate to lead to success and future-proof professions in the crafts sector.

The "From Grain to Healthy Bread" project is more than just a practical learning experience; it's a community-centered educational initiative that promotes healthier dietary habits, traditional craftsmanship, and an understanding of food origins.
