In September 2025, the British royal family welcomed US President Donald Trump for a state visit at Windsor Castle. The visit, meticulously prepared by the royal family, was described as a "spectacular show" and a "win" for the UK government.

King Charles III, Queen Camilla, Prince William, and Catherine, Princess of Wales, solemnly received the US president. The state visit included full royal ceremonies and a lavish state banquet.

The visit also involved major political meetings with the then UK Prime Minister, Keir Starmer. The royal insider, speaking on the condition of anonymity, suggested that Starmer needed a diplomatic win during Trump's visit.

According to the royal insider, Trump's feelings towards the UK were incredibly positive. However, the insider also mentioned that Trump was politically weak and might have sought a win on trade or foreign policy issues during his visit.

The insider speculated that Trump might have sought US military support in Ukraine or general support for NATO during his visit. This suggestion was not confirmed during the visit.

The state visit, though, did not result in any particular trade or foreign policy wins for either party. Despite this, the royal insider commented that the royal family had done their job during Trump's visit.

The insider also stated that Starmer needed to gain something from the visit. Whether this was achieved remains to be seen, but the state visit undoubtedly provided a platform for diplomatic discussions between the two leaders.
